Papidoux Calvados VSOP has its origins in Normandy. Calvados has been produced there for several centuries. Calvados is a region found in the very heart of Normandy. It hosts an idyllic landscape – slightly rural, with romantic spots and apple trees as far as the eye can see. This is the place where the Papidoux company is located. This company produces Calvados XO, as well as Calvados Papidoux VSOP, the latter made from different varieties of local apples.
The particularity of the apple harvest is that the harvesting takes place in late December. Calvados Papidoux VSOP is fermented for approximately one month after the different apple varieties have been sorted and turned into juice. Then it is distilled and left to rest in selected oak casks for at least five years.
Calvados Papidoux VSOP has a fruity flavour, accompanied by natural sweet notes and peppery hints. An elegant fruity taste touches the palate and caresses it with apple notes of natural fruity sweetness and a subtle peppery touch.
Calvados is served on almost every occasion in France: as an appetizer, a digestive or between meals as preparation for the next dish. Calvados Papidoux VSOP has an alcohol content of 40%. Served with or without ice, with added soda or sparkling water, it makes for the perfect drink on a hot day.
