Liqueur King's Ginger 41% alc., 0.5L
King's Ginger Whisky Liqueur was created during the reign of King Edward VII. Legend has it that the King enjoyed various outdoor activities, and the doctors recommended that he drink something for him to warm up and restore his vitality. The resulting drink was Ginger Whisky Liqueur, now produced by Berry Brothers & Rudd, under the name of King's Ginger Whisky Liquer.
The manufacturing of King's Ginger is simple: ginger is macerated with alcohol, and then oil, lemon, and the required sugar quantity are added. It has an alcohol content of 41%, quite high for a liqueur, indeed, a guarantee that the King would really warm up upon having the drink.
Scent is obviously that of ginger, with slight notes of lemon and a delicate hint of spices. Its extraordinary aroma is made possible by the use of lemon, which renders it the perfect balance; the taste of the drink altogether may even make you think that the main ingredient used is cognac. It has a long-lasting finish, with a strong flavour of the ginger used to make the king’s liqueur.
