Cognac Hennessy XO 40% alc., 0.7L, France
Hennessy X.O is an extravagant cognac created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870 for his circle of friends; X.O introduced a new and unparalleled style of cognac: Hennessy X.O, which is the original, the emblem of the House of Hennessy.
The ingredients of Hennessy X.O are aged in young casks and are known for their capacity to impart an exquisite taste, as well as to acquire refinement in time.
Cognac can only be made in the Cognac region in south-western France. Hennessy XO is made from wine, the main variety of it being white Ugni Blanc. The solid, clayey soils of the region, together with the temperate climate, make the wines especially adapted for distillation. Hennessy uses four main ingredients selected from the best winegrowers in the Central Region: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fin Bois.
The taste of Hennessy X.O is warmly embraced by flavours of candied fruits, while that intriguing sensation of intense heat brings out the complexity of the apples patiently aged in oak casks. The flavour is well polished and features notes of dark chocolate. You are suddenly hit by a striking sensation which expresses the flow of oak tones intertwined with vanilla.
The oak notes make for a long finish that is omnipresent behind them. Seemingly endless, it appears as an echo of all the subtleties of each taste and sensation that preceded it.
