Gin Monkey 47, 47% alc., 0.5L, Germany

Monkey 47 is a variety of dry gin that comes from Germany and contains 47% alcohol by volume. In spite of appearances, the “47” does not represent the beverage’s alcohol content, but the number of plants it is distilled from. Although made from so many botanicals, it has a very well balanced taste.

Its smell first strikes you with notes of citrus, then eucalyptus, followed in the end by tones of wood and pine. Its taste is intense and kicks off with notes of lime and aromatic herbs, after which comes the juniper. The finish of this gin is persistent, yet fresh, with accents of lime and pine. 

Monkey 47 Dry Gin is a native of the Black Forest mountains. This gin is produced by the Black Forest Distillery in Loßburg town. It is there that Alexander Stein and Christoph Keller developed Monkey 47 Dry Gin in 2008. You could say that the peppery juniper notes and the fresh vegetal notes are the most dominant ones. Generally, the flavour of Monkey 47 Dry Gin is very strong and diverse, with acid notes of citrus, botanicals, and hot spices.
